Cannibal: Chapter Two

It was supper time, the four girls sat at the dinner table their meals on a plate in front of them. They were having pork, rice, and vegetables. No one really talk during the meal and everything was silent till the sound of tiers on gravel was heard, followed by the sound of a car being shut down and then a door opening and closing. Everyone had stopped eating and turned their gaze to the wall where the front door was behind. Then not long after they head the door swing open and the sound of heavy foot steps.

'Yup, Dad's home.' Mindy thought as she toke another mouth full of rice and vegetables.

A shuffling sound was heard as Mindy's Father toke of his shoes and coat. No one spoke a word till a rather tall man stepped into the kitchen. Mindy's Dad had dark brown hair and dark green eyes, he was wearing a white shirt with a pair of blue jeans. He had short thin hair that was kind of wavy.

The man toke a seat next to Mindy and her Sister's Mother and soon started to place some food on his plate.

“How was work?” Grace asked, being the first to break the silence.

“Long, I'm glad to be home.” Mindy's father, Mike answered. Then he looked over to Mindy and asked “Did you join that group I told you to?”

“No, it would have been a waste of time.” Mindy answered with a annoyed look in her lime green eyes.

It was then that Christine and Grace shot etch other an uneasy look, they knew how their father could be when he want his kids to do something. They also knew that with Mindy's mind set on being whatever she so wishes can and dose cause a few problems with the two.

The Silence was back, no one wanted to be the first to break it. But in the end it was broken by Mindy's Father as he said “Well there's still a few more days that you can join. I'm telling you to join them, then. Not asking.”

“And I'm telling you that I'm not joining them.” Mindy snapped as she shot a glare at her Father.

He was about to say something back when Annabel spoke up “Let's not start this again.” and the disagreement was put to rest and everyone went back to eating.

Once supper was done Mindy had gone to the top floor of the house, or rather the attic with also served as the ginger's room. Mindy let out an soft sigh as she sat down in front of her computer and got to work on some of her homework. She did that for about an hour before she had finished it and went to bed.

When Mindy woke up the next morning she looked over to see what the date was and then with an annoyed sigh got up out of her small bed since it was Friday. She went to her dark brown dresser and picked out a dark red turtle neck shirt and an pair of black jeans. Then with a yawn she head down from her room and to the bathroom where she had to wait a few minutes for her oldest sister Christine to finish up in. Once the light brown hair sister had exited the bathroom Mindy hurried up and practically jump into the room. There she brushed her teeth and hair and after that, since she had just woken up she used the toilet. When she was done in the bathroom and stepped out she saw that her other sister Grace was waiting out in the hallway for her to come out.

The two sister exchanged an “Good morning” as Mindy walked by and headed out into the kitchen to get herself some lunch for school. She packed her self a cheese and bacon sandwich, an apple, a water bottler full of orange juice, and a bag of chips. After all that was done she placed her food in her book-bag then went to the living room and sat down in one of the chairs. The living room was rather small and was shaped the same way as Mindy's bedroom, though it had a doorway instead of a stair/ladder that she had to use to get up to her room. There was a big couch that could fit about four or five people, it was good for when one of Mindy's sisters had friends over. It was a plain dark gray couch that Mindy's father had picked out well he was out one day. Then there where the chairs, the one Mindy was sitting in was a recliner and was since declared “Mindy's Chair” by everyone in the house. The other one was a rocking chair that Mindy's Mother like the most. Mindy's chair was also a dark gray, to go along with the couch and the rocking chair was a plain wooden one with a gray pillow on the seat. The walls where a rather plain see-foam green witch Mindy didn't think went along well the the furniture.

Mindy sighed as she turned her gaze to the TV, she never really watch a lot of it as she like spending a lot of her time outside massing around.

“Good morning.” Mindy jumped a little, not expecting that greeting. She moved her eyes from the TV and saw her Mother standing in the doorway of the living room.

“Morning.” Mindy answered as she smiled.

“It's time for you to be heading out.” Mindy's mother said as she give the ginger haired female a warm smile.

Mindy nodded and got to her feet and went to get her backpack, put on her coat and shoes and then went out the door.

It was almost launch time and Mindy was sitting in her computer class looking though her email. It was then that she saw a strange email, the title was a jumble of random letters as if someone just hit their hands along the keyboard. She didn't click on it, she figured she should wait till she gets home to do that.

Not to long after Mindy exited out of the window for her email did she feel a hand be placed on her shoulder, this made her jump a little as she looked behind her. A tan blonde was standing right behind the ginger, a big smile on her face as she saw that she had startled the girl. Mindy knew this girl well and even though they were friends she still got annoyed as hell when ever she would sneak up on her.

“Can I help you Alice?” Mindy asked as she spun around her chair so she was now facing her friend.

“Well I was wondering if you wanted to walk with me to the library during launch.” Alice said, her smile still on her face.

Alice was always a friendly looking person and just about everyone seemed to like her. She was also the kind of girl that would wear bright and colorful clothing and the colors she would normally wear were pinks, blues, oranges, yellows, and reds. Not that Mindy really care what colors her friend like to wear, she just wishes she stop trying to imitate a walking fruit salad.

Today Alice was wearing a bright yellow tank top and a pair of blue jogging pants. She had on a pair of yellow converses that seemed to match her tank top.

“Well?” Alice asked, her smile slowly started to fade the longer Mindy stayed silent.

“Why not. After all you might end up getting lost if I don't go along.” Mindy could help but add that snarky remark at the end, it was something she was known to do after all.

Alice's smile went back to the way it was when she first asked Mindy her question, if not maybe a little bigger. The blonde did always like to spend time with any of her friends, but she rather like walking to the library with Mindy.

Once launch time came around the two friends head off to the library. Mindy keep a brisk walk well Alice did a short of skip. The brightly colored female was always so bright, no pun intended, and happy. This was rather different from how Mindy was. The ginger haired female was very sarcastic, snarky, and at times short tempered. It was very strange how the two even became friends to begin with.

“What did you need to go to the library for anyway?” Mindy asked giving a quick glance at her friend.

“Just picking up some books for help with my homework.” Alice answered in her normal happy-go-lucky voice.

Mindy let out a small smile and thought that even though Alice had soon many friends she would also try and get some of her school work done, though something she wouldn't really say was that her friend wasn't really the brightest of her friends. Witch was funny seeing how brightly her clothing was, but hey you can't be good at everything.

Once the two had gotten the small building, other wise known as the library they toke a small break. Mindy looked around the building and saw that they had planted a new apple tree along the row now making it a line of four. There was also a few bushes along the sides and a few vines growing along the side of the brick library. There was a few windows that Mindy could see from the front that allowed her to see into parts of the library.

Mindy and Alice were standing on the sidewalk, over looking the building and the concrete parking lot. There were a few cars parked there, on was a silver pick-up truck. Another was a red van and the last one was a black jeep.

Alice looked over to Mindy who soon look back to her friend and then the two started towards the glass door of the library. Once inside Alice went to where the books and movies people have asked for where on hold and looked though them for the books she was waiting for. Mindy on the other hand went right to the mystery books to see if she could find any cool stories she could read over the weekend. She soon settled on a book about a boy that's a clone of a famous serial killers and has to find all of the other clones well he fights not to become a killer himself. Mindy give a small happy nod as she walked over to the counter to check out the book she had picked out. And once she had gotten there she saw her friend talking to some guy from her school. This was someone Mindy didn't care a whole lot about, but this was manly because of all the rumors she had heard about this man.

His name was Rick MacKay and he was on his last year of school. He has slightly long dirty blonde hair and today he was wear a black muscle shirt with a pair of pre-cute jeans. Much like Alice he was wearing a pair of converses, though his where a dark blue. It seem he was flirting with Alice, witch is something she wasn't all that shocked about. Alice was that cute blonde chick that all the guys seem to like, though with the supposed violent streak Rick might have had, Mindy wasn't going to take any chances. So she walked up to him and give him a tap on the shoulder. The tall male turned and shot a glare at her, witch she shot right back. Alice stepped back as she give a worried glance between both the small ginger and the 5, 6 dirty blonde.

“Mindy it's alright, he was just helping me find my books.” The small blond stated, it was obvious that she was scared that a fight might break out between the two.

“Well thank you for helping her, I think she's good now.” Mindy said, still not moving her eyes from the glare down she and Rick were having.

“Rick why don't you head back to school?” Alice asked, hopping to get the two away from etch other. Even though Rick wasn't a buff man, he was still pretty tough and Alice was worried that her friend might get hurt.

Reluctantly Rick tore his gaze away from the ginger and looked over to Alice and soon said “Alright... but only because you asked.” And with that he left the building.

Once Rick was gone Alice looked to Mindy with an unusual angry look on her face.

“I know you care about me, but really? Do you have to challenge every male that comes up to me?” Alice crossed her arms over her small chest.

“I don't trust him.” Mindy answered with an annoyed look.

“I can take care of myself you know!” Alice snapped, Mindy give a small shrug. True Alice wasn't normally like this, but the ginger wasn't going to let that get to her.

“Well till you can prove he's not what everyone says he is, then I'll believe you.” Mindy knew that her friend was going to say “You can't just judge him based on those stupid rumors.” and Alice would have been right on that.

Alice was about to say something when Mindy cut her off “Let's not fight about this and just get out books and head back to school.”
